Matthew Lewis Visits WB Studio Tour With Royal Family

Today Prince William, Duchess Kate and Prince Harry visited Warner Bros Studio Tour to inaugurate the new section showing off props from other Warner Bros. films (such as Batman.)  Matthew Lewis along with some other members of the Potter family were also in attendance at the event.  So far there is only one shot of Matthew online, from his Twitter account. The Hemel Gazette has a short interview with Matthew in their recap of the day.

Matthew, 23, said: “Today has been great. I was told we would be coming and that we would be meeting William, Kate and Harry, which was fantastic.

“It’s just weird being back at the place where I used to work for 10 years, and then to have the actual royal family here too is amazing. I have been on the tour before but haven’t been back in the actual studios since I finished filming.

“It’s so weird and really surreal being back after all this time. Harry joked that we must just take people round here now.”

Additional photos (not including Matthew) may be seen on Prince Harry or Duchess Kate‘s Factebook pages and more news is at Magical-Menagerie.

Wasteland to Show at Newport Beach Film Festival

Battered and bruised, Harvey sits in a police interview room facing interrogation. Clutching a stack of eyewitness statements, the detective on the other side of the table has no doubt about Harvey’s part in a foiled robbery and his subsequent attempted murder of a local businessman. Denying everything, Harvey agrees to tell his version of events in full. What unfolds is an exhilarating, moving and hilarious story of loyalty, jealousy, friendship, revenge and the pursuit of happiness.

‘Wasteland’ Showing In Ireland on February 15th

Irish fans of Matthew Lewis are in for a treat because next Friday, the 15th of February, Wasteland will be showing at the Jameson International Film Festival in Dublin at 7:15pm.   To purchase tickets, which cost €11, visit this page on the Jameson website! The film has been renamed The Rise for this release and a synopsis of the film (which is a bit different from ones in the past) can be read below:

A heist thriller with a distinctly British sensibility, The Rise marks an assured and engaging first feature from writer/director Rowan Athale. Appealing characters, clever plotting and smart dialogue make for a winning combination.

The Rise is set against the backdrop of a ‘broken’ Britain that has nothing to offer a younger generation beyond minimum wage jobs and unrealistic hopes. Released after a short prison sentence, Harvey (Luke Treadaway) wants a second chance with girlfriend Nathalie (Vanessa Kirby), he wants revenge on the local crime boss Roper (Neil Maskell) who framed him and he wants to enlist the help of his mates for a robbery that might allow him to achieve all those goals.

There may be nods to The Usual Suspects and the Oceans franchise along the way but The Rise is very much its own film. The pleasures lie as much in the sarcastic banter and blokey chemistry of the four leads as they do in the mechanics of the twisted revenge plot. Treadaway gives one of his best performances, ably supported by a strong ensemble cast. Rowan Athale clearly knows how to bring out the best in his actors and lays down a marker for what should be a promising future career.
