Lewis: Oscar’s not my goal
Leeds fan dreams of Cup final glory
Most actors dream of winning an Oscar, but Leeds fan Matthew Lewis says he would rather score against Manchester United in a cup final.
The actor, who has appeared in all eight Harry Potter films, still lives in Leeds and is a regular at Elland Road.
And he says if he was ever given the chance to realise one of his two dreams he would ‘without a doubt’ choose football over acting!
“I’m actually thinking about it right now!” he told Soccer AM. “I have little daydreams about it all the time.”
Lewis landed the role of Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter films when he was just 11 years old.
Despite a rigorous filming schedule over the last 10 years, he has kept a watchful eye on his boyhood heroes, and believes they’re more than capable of returning to the top flight this season.
Simon Grayson’s men are currently fifth in the Championship, and Lewis says with a bit more ambition from the club’s board they would be certainties to go up.
“We’re a bit inconsistent at the moment but we had a good win midweek and we’ll hopefully beat Millwall today” he said.
“I’m trying not to talk about the man upstairs too much, but I think we just need to move on a bit further and show a bit more ambition.
“But we’ve got a good enough squad to go up, I believe that. We just need to put a few results together and we can go up, definitely.”
Team Mates
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 – the final instalment in the highest-grossing film series of all time – was released earlier this year.
The impressive cast included Robbie Coltrane, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, to name but a few.
With that in mind, Helen and Max decided to ask Lewis to take part in a special Harry Potter Team Mates! Here’s what he had to say:
Who is the best actor: Alan Rickman.
Who is the funniest off camera: Rupert Grint.
Who is the most intelligent: Daniel Radcliffe.
Who is the least intelligent: Probably me! They’re all pretty bright.
Who is the least intelligent, excluding Lewis: He’s going to kill me! Devon Murray who plays Seamus Finnigan. He’s going to kill me. I’m definitely below him.
Who was the latest on set: Either me or Emma Watson… doing her hair or something.
Who had the biggest trailer, entourage etc: Probably Rupert Grint! He had a pretty good setup; big screen TV, PlayStation, pool table, dart board – he had the whole thing going on.
And finally who is the longest in the shower… Alf Enoch… we’ll leave it at that!
