Part 1
Matt: Hello! I have to apologize for the state of my shirt. I tried dressing myself, and yea. Sorry.
Interviewer: If you could have been a part of any television series, what one would you have jumped into?
Matt: TV series, um, anything at all? Um okay, its hard, it would probably be either Buffy the Vampire Slayer or 24.
Interviewer: Who would you want to play?
Matt: Jonathan (?), definitely, without a doubt. It’s like, [can’t make out what is said]…I just like his character.
Interviewer: What’s your favorite video game?
Matt: Oh there’s so many, I dunno, I always said that my favorite game ever is Final Fantasy 7. Yea, I quite liked the first [can’t make out what is said] and Final Fantasy 10 was good. Um, I quite liked some of the online [can’t make out what is said] Gears of War and Halo..
Interviewer: Ever play Guitar Hero, or…
Matt: Yea I’ve got Guitar Hero 3. I’m rubbish
Interviewer: I’m awesome but I suck at everything else…So were you ever interested in the fandom as a kid?
Matt: Yea definitely, with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, obviously I’ve got them all on DVD, yea absolutely. Madly in love with Sarah Michelle Gellar. Yea that was tough growing up it actually because I loved her so much and I knew there was no way, and uh but absolutely absolutely ever since I was about 5 loved Star Wars. I try and get people to quiz me in school on the bus I said “go on ask me a question, I bet I can answer it!”..not now cuz I can’t do it but I used to be able to..and uh Star Trek. Anything to do with I just love all Star watch (?) they’re great.
Interviewer: Have you ever gotten to meet anyone from Buffy?
Matt: Um yea, I met Nicholas Brendon is really cool and I tried to…um seeing what it was like to finish season seven and so I could see what its like. Its been 8 years and it will be 2010 when its all finished, its kinda similar being together for so long and its all its gonna end. He was really nice to see how he dealt with it and how he got on with it.
Interviewer: Do you have a favorite movie?
Matt: Oh I hate this question. I hate this question out of any, because I, films, films are my passion I always [can’t make out what is said] films. I couldn’t possibly pick, I could pick a few if you want. Um I like..Scarface is a great film, Memento, Godfather Part 2, anything with Rob De Niro, I like Al Pacino all kinds of films. Star Wars Episode 4. I quite like Star Trek First Contact actually.
Interviewer: How long did it take you, if any time at all, to adjust to the different styles of the directors in Harry Potter?
Matt: Uh, well all the directors have been so fantastic. It’s not been too difficult for me, I mean they’ve all got varying styles, uh I’m sure you are all aware from watching the films at how different they are. They’ve all been so great, they’re really good with kids and I started at 11 and worked with Chris Columbus worked with McCauly before and he was very very good with kids so he was great and we got a new director Alfonos. And David Yates is absolutely superb and I don’t find it difficult to transition. I find it fascinating seeing the way they work and the way they interact with everybody.
Interviewer: So I can’t help but notice the tattoo on your arm. Is that for anything specific?
Matt: Yea, uh, its means 11 and its my football squad number. I wanted a tattoo for ages and had to go through all the people, David Baron the producer and asked if I could get it done and he’s like “uhh…not really” and when I finished he said” you know what go get it” and it was on my mind for ages what to get so I said why not get that because its always going to be my squad number, its never going to change, I still play football.
Interviewer: Do you enjoy traveling?
Matt: No, not really. I’m terrified of planes. I’m really scared, once I’m in the air I’m okay but its the take off, I hate it.
Interviewer: Is there anywhere you’d like to visit though?
Matt: Um, well I’ve already done Atlanta. I’d quite like to go to Egypt.
Interviewer: For the history of it or just?
Matt: Yea yea yea. Its so fascinating and I’d go to the pyramids and all that kind of stuff. I think its just really cool
Interviewer: Did you, everyone wants to know, you had to do dance lessons for Goblet of Fire?
Matt: Yea, we did for a good 6 to 8 months. I got really into it. We did the watlz and tango and I was really nervous but it was really cool. It wasnt as bad as I though, when I was done it was really cool. I recommend it.
Interviewer: Well they say you’re it makes you better at football.
Matt: Yea..well it didn’t
Interviewer: How do you feel about Neville’s changes in Deathly Hallows. Do you look forward to playing the new changes on film?
Matt: Yea definitely, hopefully I get rid of that fat suit. I wanted him to be at the start, but he was at school. But I didn’t think he was going to do quite that much, leading the resistance. And that part was mind blowing and so I can’t wait to get the script and to read it. So I want to get the script quite early on because *something * and to read what actually goes in it because the book
*cut out this part because I couldn’t make out what he said*
Matt: Because its a lot to put into one film which happens a lot and can be a real shame sometimes. As a fan of the books myself I hate seeing stuff missing. So being 2 films you can get everything there and do it right then thats good.
