Lewis Lovers Exclusive Interview
April 30, 2009 – Lewis Lovers Exclusive Interview
Welcome to the Matt and Megan show! Haha. Anyways here is my interview with Matt. We didn’t have enough time to fit in a lot of questions so Matt says we can do an Interview Part II! So hopefully that will be soon as well!
PART ONE: POTTER
Megan: So can you say anything about this job you have? Everyone is wondering if its another movie, or if you are helping out on the DH set with something.
Matt: Hehe
Matt: I’m working on DH
Megan: What sort of work are you doing?
Matt: I’m back playing Neville, filming away.
Matt: Only done two days so far though.
Megan: I see. well thats good. I’m so excited for his scenes.
Megan: What are you most excited to film?
Matt: Without a doubt, the final sequence
Matt: the battle of Hogwarts is going to be intense
Megan: yea, i was soo excited when I read that. It should be pretty awesome
Matt: in particular the Nagini/sword bit
Matt: can’t wait
Megan: Yep, that is one of the best parts of the book!
Megan: Which new actors cast in Deathly Hallows are you looking forward to working with?
Matt: Hmm, I don’t really know of many of the new since I’ve only worked with Dan, Rupert and Emma so far.
Matt: Do you know of some that are new and I’ll tell you if I’m looking forward to working with them 😉
Megan: I’ll take a look haha
Megan: Helen Mcrory will be playing Draco’s mom
Megan: and Domhnall Gleeson will be playing Bill Weasley
Matt: Oh yea, Helen McRory for sure because she was supposed to be in OotP but I believe was pregnant so had to cancel
Megan: Yea, but I think that Helena was a better Bellatrix and Helen is more suited for Narcissa
Megan: so i guess it turned out for the best
Matt: Helena Bonham Carter stepped in and was fantastic but I am looking forward to working with Helen McRory
Megan: yea, she seems really nice
Matt: Absolutely, you’re right
Matt: Brendan Gleeson for me is one of the most fantastic people I have ever worked with
Matt: He’s just such a nice guy and so talented
Matt: So I’m sure his son will be equally as great
Megan: Being a fan of the books, are you ever upset when they don’t do certain parts from the books; especially Neville scenes?
Matt: Yea absolutely, not just with Neville but all the things that are cut out of the film, it’s sad to see. unfortunately, when you’re making a 2 hour movie of a huge book, it’s necessary, and the script writers work incredibly hard to make it 2 hours and still make sense.
Matt: It’s a shame that the writers have gotten so much stick sometimes, coz they do a really good job.
Megan: Yea, I think they do a good job at keeping the most important things
Megan: the one part that I didn’t like getting cut was the full scene in OotP where Harry see’s his father and Sirius when they were younger
Matt: Lucky for everyone this time around DH will be 2 movies, so there’s going to be loaaads in it for everyone!
Megan: yea, I was so glad when they decided to split it.
Matt: Yea, that was a shame, I was quite upset about losing the hospital scene with Neville’s parents too but I guess that’s the way it goes in cinema!
Megan: Yea, that was such a good scene, it really made you feel for Neville
Megan: What are some fun/funny stories you have about being on set?
Matt: We have a lot of fun you know
Matt: I remember one time, Alfie and I were playing cricket and he was bowling and he caught me square in the groin. That hurt, a lot! We laughed about it later though, much later.
Megan: haha! that must have hurt a lot…too bad its not on video, you could make 10,000 pounds
Matt: Alfonso Cuaron hiding a fart machine on set was funny too
Megan: haha yea i read about that one!
Matt: Right when Alan Rickman and Michael Gambon were doing a scene.
PART TWO: RANDOMOSITY
Megan: Have you been contacted by Gentle Giant to have them do a bust of Neville?
Matt: Nope, I heard about this from a fan recently at a show, Birmingham I think, but I’ve not heard anything about it officially, nobody has asked me about it anyway!
Megan: yea, everyone hopes they do a Neville one, but they are doing lots of the other characters first, which is sad
Matt: interesting!
Megan: and you obviously LOVE the Beatles, I really should listen to them more often
Megan: and you HAVE to see Yellow Submarine, its such a good movie and the Beatles songs make it even more awesome
Matt: I haven’t seen any of their movies.
Megan: that’s the only one I’ve seen
Matt: My bandmate has HELP! and he keeps telling me to watch it and I will
Matt: I love the beatles
Matt: they are incredible
Megan: yea they are so awesome, and i love accents so that makes it even better
Matt: Haha
Megan: That is always good, speaking of twitter, do you know of any other Potter stars that have a Twitter besides the Phelps brothers and Afshan?
Megan: I know there is a fake Bonnie one, at least it seems fake
Matt: I didn’t even know the Phelps brothers were real haha!
Megan: I think they are
Matt: I haven’t spoken to them for a while, I’ll have to give them a call.
Megan: hehe 🙂
Matt: That’s cool, we’re getting a little army together on here now.
Matt: Afshan too, she’s great.
Matt: From Manchester but nobody’s perfect!
Megan: Yea even though she wasnt in the films too much I like her
Matt: Apart from Tom and Afshan and now James and Oliver, I don’t know of anybody else.
Matt: I’m not saying they’re not on there, I just don’t know about it, lol!
Megan: ooh, i found a fun question in my huge pile, haha : What’s your most prized article of clothing? (thank you Ally)
Matt: Wow, good question
Megan: haha isnt it, fans come up with such fun questions haha
Matt: Can I pick three?
Megan: sure!
Matt: Well in 3rd is my jeans. Theyre shitty topman slim grey jeans but I bloody love them. I recommend to all!
Megan: ooh good to know. i wish they had topshop/topman here
Matt: hehe
Megan: i love a good pair of jeans…haha…my favorite pair is an australian designer, Sass and Bide
Matt: cool
Matt: a good pair of jeans are irreplaceable
Megan: yea i would feel lost without jeans
Matt: ok, in 2nd place
Matt: my Prada belt, I’m not usually a big designer guy, I like having stuff that is good quality and well made but I’m not a fan of logos splashed everywhere
Megan: Yea, haha its better if it doesnt have the name everywhere, thats just trying to show off
Matt: This belt is really discreet, it says PRADA really small on the buckle, which again isn’t huge and in your face, its black and shiny, I like it.
Megan: shiny is always fun! haha
Matt: and in 1st
Matt: My John Lennon t-shirt
Megan: ahh yes John, gotta love him
Matt: it’s blue with John Lennon signing on it and it says John Lennon; War Is Over (IF YOU WANT IT)
Megan: oooh, good message too
PART THREE: POTTER AGAIN
Megan: Who are you going to have to bribe to be on set the day Emma and Rupert have to kiss, because EVERYONE, cast and crew, are dying to see it
Matt: I don’t think even God is gonna manage to get onto that set.
Megan: haha, yea its gonna be crazy
Matt: It’ll be all closed up and locked down. I’d go down and watch, and I wonder if I could blag my way on. I wouldn’t want to though. I know I’d be uncomfortable with everyone around watching, so I’ll leave em to it!
Megan: Yea, thats very true. I would not want someone watching me kiss, must be really awkward to see it on screen too
Matt: No doubt!
Megan: What are the best and worst experiences you’ve had on the Potter set?
Matt: Erm, that cricket ball in the groin wasn’t exactly the best experience!
Matt: haha
Megan: haha yea i would say not
Matt: Erm, I’ve not really had bad experiences
Megan: well thats good then
Matt: Sometimes, when you can’t get a line right, no matter how hard you try, that can be really frustrating, it’s not so much a bad experience, it’s just really annoying and everyone on the set is so dedicated and they all strive for perfection, you really don’t want to let anybody down!
Megan: Yea, i know what that feels like, just not from the acting perspective, but sports (gymnastics)
Matt: Best experiences are when we get all the cool makeup on, for fight scenes etc. and we’re running around being Tom Cruise, it’s wicked.
Megan: Haha yea
Matt: Well yh exactly, its the same thing in football, I’m a striker and when the whole team is playing well but I can’t put the ball in the goal, it’s frustrating.
Megan: Yea, feels like you made the team lose if you messed up when it really isnt your fault
Matt: Yea, exactly!
Megan: while we are on the subject of the set, haha What is Rupert’s game room like, everyone says it?s really awesome!? Have you actually seen Emma beat Dan and Rupert at ping-pong? Have you ever played against her?
Matt: Rupert’s got a pretty good room. Table tennis, darts, pool.
Megan: that would be so fun!
Matt: It’s definitely the place to be if you’re bored or you wanna wind down
Megan: haha yea i’d imagine
Matt: Now I remember Emma used to be pretty pro at table tennis
Matt: hers and Tom Felton’s games used to be epic, the thing of legend.
Megan: haha thats soo awesome
Matt: Dan spends a lot of time practising though, I don’t think Ems could beat him now. I’d like to see the matchup though.
Megan: Oooh that would be interesting
Megan: What kind of things do you do to pass the time when he’s not wanted on set? Tom mentioned having jam sessions, do you join in?
Matt: Well I started playing about 6 months ago, so I’ve not had chance to jam with Tom yet, but he’s incredible, I’ve watched him on youtube. His melodies and lyrics are quality, I’ll definitely be jamming with him this year, if he’ll let me!
Megan: Yea, he has such a great voice
Matt: If I’m not playing guitar then I’m probably watching tv or listening to music. Music chills me out loads and it can also help me focus, if I need to conjure up a certain emotion.
Megan: Who do you connect most with on the Potter set?
Matt: Alfie Enoch for sure.
Megan: yea you guys seem VERY close
Matt: He’s just so funny, and very intelligent, we have a really good laugh, always joking around.
Megan: yea laughing is always a good thing, i cant go for more than a few hours without laughing
Matt: He reminds me of my mates from Leeds more than anyone else, I don’t know why!
Megan: well thats good too, brings a bit of home back to you while you are away
Matt: But saying that though, Dan and Rupert are always a good laugh and we like the same music and comedy
Matt: So we’re always having a joke about something. Dan’s great coz he’s not into his football, but he really makes the effort to take an interest coz he knows I like it and I appreciate that.
Matt: Recently Tom Felton and I have been having a really good laugh together. Could be the Twitter connection, I dunno, but he’s a funny guy, very charismatic, always got something to say, I like that.
