It has just been announced that Matt will be one of the professional actors participating in workshops for TotallyLit North’s 2 week Summer School session. There are 25 spots available for students aged 11-16 and you do not have to audition to be a part of this (unlike regular sessions of TotallyLit where you audition to be a student).
This fun and exciting course is designed to give young people an extensive insight into an industry swamped with ‘wannabes’, giving them valuable tools, to cope with the requirements and demands of auditioning, getting the job to arriving properly prepared on set.
Learning from top names in Theatre, Film and TV students will develop acting skills and the tools to cope well with auditions and life on a professional Film/TV set. Receiving tutoring from Actors, directors, casting directors and agents, as well as having practical classes in screen acting and theatre acting, this course is completely unique and unlike anything else on offer to those wishing to work in film and TV.
EXISTING TOTALLY LIT NORTH STUDENTS, PLEASE NOTE: Although this will be fun and informative, it will have no bearing on the Totally Lit North course during the year and is purely intended as a fun introduction to the kind of work we do all year round. Some of the work we do during the two weeks will have already been covered during our first term and a lot of the rest will be covered at some point during terms two and three. You are, however, more than welcome to apply!
This is an experience open to anyone with an interest in working in the future in Film, TV and Theatre as an actor, agent or TV Presenter. NO AUDITION IS REQUIRED to gain entry to this exciting and unique course.

Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 2:46 pm | Comments Off on Anthony Lewis’ Totally Lit Expanding To Leeds |
Back in August we reported about Totally Lit, a drama school started by Matthew Lewis’ older brother, Anthony. They will be expanding to Leeds in February and Matt will once again be a guest mentor in the Masterclass program. There is a special new site, Totally Lit North, for the Leeds location. Last night they held a launch event, photos from Matt at the event may be viewed in the gallery. Additionally, the brothers chatted with BBC Radio Leeds this morning, you can listen to that here.
Anthony discussed the program and why he started it with North Leeds Life Magazine:
“Many people will think that it’s just another drama school, but what we are doing is unique”, says Artistic Director Anthony Lewis. “We are offering up to 40 young people an amazing opportunity to work on a regular basis with genuine British Talent and all of the artists have such great reputations, not only as good actors, but as disciplined and focused professionals. We think this is hugely significant and this makes everyone that we work with to be a relevant and pertinent role model for our students.
“Being a former child actor from Leeds myself, I am fully aware of the huge amount of talent in this area and I am very excited to be working with and encouraging the next crop of young talented actors, as they take their first steps in a hugely competitive industry.”
Of helping out with the program, Matt says:
I am really proud to be a Patron of Totally Lit. As a former child actor myself, I can see the huge value in fine-tuning the key skills needed to work in this industry as a professional. The work that the creative team are doing is fantastic and something I would have hugely benefitted from at that age.
Auditions for the first term are on February 9th and you can sign up for a slot on the website. Audition information is as follows:
All prospective students will be invited to attend either a free taster/sampling session, or a one hour open workshop audition. The purpose of this is to assess each of the candidates, over a range of disciplines, including improvisation and scripted tasks. Although we will be using it as an opportunity to assess you, we will treat it as a regular session and hope that it gives you some idea of how things work, week in, week out.
In addition to looking for very talented young people, we are also looking for people who display a good, positive attitude and can work quickly and co-operatively with others.
AGE GROUPS:
11-14 Years Sunday 10:30am – 1:30pm
15-19 Years Sunday 2:30pm – 5:30pmCOST…
For a place on the workshop programme the cost is £300.00/Term
Deposit of £50.00 to be paid upon accepting a place.

Back in July Matthew visited the Magic of Medicine exhibition at the Thackray Medical Museum and some photos were taken of Matt and a few children. View the adorable pictures in the gallery! At the museum Matt said “It’s one of my favourite museums”, said Matthew. “I was amazed at how fascinated the children were by the element of magic in medicine and healthcare.” The exhibition runs through the end of the year and ticketing information as well as details on daily activities may be found on their website. Information about the exhibition is as follows:
The Museum’s year-long magic project explores the timeless association between bedpans and broomsticks, helping to dispel fears that the story of medicine is just gory or scary. In addition to the Magic and Medicine exhibition, the museum is hosting Harry Potter’s World, a travelling display from the National Library of Medicine in the USA. Visitors will learn how historic medical resources from the history of medicine have been woven into the magic of J.K Rowling’s much loved Harry Potter series.
Also, thanks to Danaholics Anonymous we have some news about a new program Matt is involved with called Totally Lit. It is run by his older brother Anthony and serves as a “a new kind of workshop training in Film, TV and Theatre, opening in September 2013, in Central London, for young people aged 11-18 years.” Every week there are 3-hour workshop’s and Masterclasses with top casting directors, actors and agents. DA has done some digging and found that Matt will be hosting one of these Masterclasses. A statement from an artistic director of the programme may be read below:
Matthew is the one of the first actors to sign up to our masterclass programme. Just so you are clear, as I don’t wish to mislead people, the masterclass is only for students at Totally-lit. We are recruiting in the first two weeks of September (7th and 14th). People wishing to audition will need to book in, in advance, but they can do this via the website. Anyone under 16 needs an adult (parent/carer) to book on their behalf.
To sign up and for more information about the cost of the programme, visit this page and be sure to read the FAQs! A few photos from the launch may be viewed in the gallery.
