New Photos and Interview with Matthew for The Syndicate

The BBC has posted two new photos as well as an interview with Matthew Lewis for his upcoming show The Syndicate.  You can read the full interview at the previous link or in the press archive! View the two new photos in the gallery!

Jamie gets to wear some sharp suits in the drama – do you like his look and are they the sort of things you would wear?

Half and half! Once Jamie wins the money he becomes very flash, very flamboyant. He’s a lad from a council estate who jumps head first into the seedy world of adult entertainment. He tries to dress in what he thinks he should be dressing in but he doesn’t quite get it right.

Some of his earlier gear is not my cup of tea. However, as Jamie settles in and things start to go right for him he grows in confidence and he starts to dress more confidently with it. His suits become less flashy and more elegant. Towards the end he looks much more like he belongs in the world of the rich rather just a pretender. You’re almost proud of him and some of that later gear I could wear definitely.

Fellow cast member Matthew McNulty, who plays Jamie’s brother Stuart, also discussed working with Matt:

Stuart has a complicated relationship with his brother Jamie, played by Matthew Lewis; did you and Matthew get on well on set?

Matthew McNulty: Yeah, he’s a top lad, Matt – we share a lot of common interests and have a similar sense of humour so we got on really well. We also both have brothers and understand how you can have an eruption of extreme hatred for your brother one minute then vehemently defend them the next, as is commonly the case with Stuart and Jamie.

He’s a cracking actor that really brought Jamie to life for me and definitely enhanced my own performance. I always enjoyed working with Matt because I totally believe everything he was doing and found him great company to be around on set.

Finally, Kay Mellor, the writer discussed Matthew’s audition:

You have a great cast in The Syndicate – did you have these actors in mind when you wrote the characters?

Joanna Page and Matthew Lewis both walked into the audition room and the part was theirs – they were so brilliant.

More Information on Wasteland

IPM Casting has some new information about Matthew’s upcoming film, Wasteland. Matthew will be playing the character of Dodd and his Potter co-star Timothy Spall will be playing D.I. West. The synopsis of the film is as follows:

Battered, bruised and under arrest, Harvey Denton sits in a police interview room facing interrogation. Clutching a stack of eyewitness statements, Detective Inspector West has no doubt as to Harvey’s part in a foiled robbery, and his subsequent attempted murder of local businessman Steven Roper.

Denying nothing, Harvey agrees to tell his version of events in full. We take in his release from prison a month earlier, and the malevolent, unjust act that put him there. We see his emotional reunion with his sibling-like best friends, and the
immovable loyalty they have for one another. We see the rekindling of a lost love, a second chance for two people meant for each other. We see the ingenious planning of the ill-fated robbery, the amazing twist, the shocking outcome, and the real driving force behind it – retribution. What unfolds is an exhilarating, moving and hilarious story of loyalty, jealousy, friendship, revenge and the pursuit of happiness.

WASTELAND is a bold take on a much-loved genre. A heist film, an underdog story and a thriller delivered with unexpected originality.

Filming begins tomorrow in Leeds and continues until March 31st. There is still no release date for the film.

Matthew Lewis Attends Telford Comic Con

According to an article posted today, Matthew Lewis attended the Telford Comic Con this past Saturday. So far I have not been able to find any photos of Matthew at the event, but if you attended be sure to send them in: webmiss[at]magical-menagerie[dot]com! (there is also a possibility that it isn’t true because this is the only article that mentioned it)

Warwick Davis, who plays Flitwick and the Choir Instructor was also at the convention as well as a few stars from BBC’s Merlin (which, if you don’t watch yet, I highly recommend)
