Matthew Lewis Attends Deathly Hallows Wrap Party

Thanks to my friends at HP4U we can now share with you some details about the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows wrap party that Matthew attended this past Saturday.  Read their full report and all the photos, here!  You may also see the photos from the event at Magical-Menagerie’s galleries!! No photos of Matt so far, I’m afraid.

Ok, so most important I guess is that in attendance of course were Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. Emma looked stunning as always, quite often going unnoticed with her new look, Daniel was just Daniel! – more than happy to chat, sign, have his photo taken with fans, and Rupert was as laid back as always, on this occasion flying in after a well deserved holiday and arriving in style in his brand new super car which is a stunning and super cool Audi, enough said on that, except to say…………….. Go easy Rupert!! remember the premiums!!

Whilst the food was delicious, the fact that we were sat having lunch alongside David Heyman and David Bradley, whilst the brilliant Jarvis Cocker mixed tracks and was resident DJ on the stage was rather surreal; save the fact that Alan Rickman, Mathew Lewis, so many of the stars, who would have ordinarily not have been able to spend much time together were walking around and having fun was even more of an experience never to forget.

Once we made it out back onto the runway, where hundreds of guests were dancing, it was quite simply a who’s who of some of Britain’s finest Actors and Actresses, all of whom have worked on the Potter films, and all more than happy to chat, joke, share a photo and sign a few souvenirs. John Hurt (how cool it was to see John Hurt here!!!) Jim Broadbent, Mark Williams, Mathew Lewis, Tom Felton, Jason Isaacs, David Legeno, Bonnie Wright, Afshad Azan, James and Oliver Phelps, Suzie Toase, Ralph Inerson, Natalia Tena, Nick Moran (Scabior (and now acclaimed writer and Director of the Kid)), Jessie Cave, Geraldine Somerville, David Baron, David Thewlis, Alan Rickman & of course, Daniel, Rupert and Emma. These were just the few we got to talk to!!! And there might well have been more. Sadly JK Rowling did not attend, or if she did we missed her.

Happy Birthday Neville Longbottom!

Since it is now July 30th in the UK it is time to start celebrating Neville Longbottom’s birthday!  As you all know, Matt plays Neville in the Harry Potter films.

Neville is turning 30 years old and is married to Hannah Abbot.  He is the Herbology teacher at Hogwarts and she is the new owner of The Three Broomsticks.

Matt Talks about Neville in the Potter Films

In a new interview with The Press Association, Matthew Lewis talks about Neville’s appearance in the Harry Potter films.

The 21-year-old was almost unrecognisable as himself as he donned yellowed crooked false teeth and a fatsuit and had plastic bits placed behind his ears to make them stick out to portray Neville Longbottom, but got to lose them in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. “The teeth and the ears were the first to go, and then the fatsuit came shortly after – I look a lot more like him in the new film,” he revealed. “I didn’t mind wearing all those things because it was appropriate for the character. He’s been a bit more bloody and battered as he’s been living underground so we’ve made him slim out.”

In the two-part finale of the wizarding films, the first to be released in November, Neville leads Dumbledore’s Army in Harry’s (Daniel Radcliffe) absence. Matthew – an ambassador and judge for Bafta’s Young Game Designers competition – said: “It’s been a great evolution of the character. Having started when I was 11 years old, Neville was shy and vulnerable, who was pushed around, bullied and was very nervous. Over the years, he has more depth and can stand up more for himself. In the seventh one, he’s almost a completely changed man. He’s a reckless resistance leader who wants to go and fight, and do the right thing. He’s become more heroic, he’s got heart, courage and loyalty. He’s still not perfect, but he comes through where it counts.”
