New Matthew Interview with BBC Radio Devon

Today Matthew Lewis talked to BBC Radio Devon about filming the Harry Potter movies.  You can listen to the interview below and read a transcript in the press archive.

BBC: It’s the final film we’ll see this year. How do you feel about that, because ultimately this is the end of an era for you, isn’t it?
Matthew:
It was a strange feeling on the last day. It was very, very surreal, actually. I don’t really remember much of it. But it was a big scene that we shot. There were loads of cast members in it, lots of extras and hundreds of people on the set. And then when it finished it was just a couple of us that looked around and all Hogwarts was destroyed and reduced to rubble. It was really odd. So empty. But I wasn’t that sad. I knew that I’d be seeing everyone again for premieres . I wasn’t sad because I was just so proud of what we’d done. I never thought when I was 11 years old that I’d be talking to BBC Radio Devon about the eight film that we’ve made. I’m 21 years old. It’s just been a pleasure and I’ve just felt so proud of everyone. We got through them all. We made them all and did the best that we could.

Matthew Lewis Talks Harry Potter and Verdict

In a new interview with Wales Online Matthew talks about the filming and saying good bye to Harry Potter as well as Verdict.  You can read some snippets below and the full interview over in the press archive.

“Yes, it’s the first time I’ve ever acted on stage,” he chuckles “Theatre is something that has passed me by. Now I want to go with it and see where it takes me. When you’ve played the same character for 10 years you don’t want to become typecast, you want to be seen in a different way. That’s why it’s a pleasure and privilege to work with experienced stage actors. It’s a great foundation for me to appear in such a great production. We opened in Windsor and I have to confess it was a bit terrifying,” he jokes. “We didn’t have much rehearsal time, only about three weeks in all. The first night it was nerve-wracking, but once I got that first performance and then the first week out of the way it it’s been easier.

He also confides that there were no tears and no sadness on the last day of filming, although it was an incredibly emotional moment. “I didn’t feel sad, I felt incredibly proud,” says Matthew, who has become firm friends with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. “I felt a special bond with all the cast and all the crew that have worked on the films for 10 years. It’s been an incredible achievement to complete the series and have the privilege to see at first hand what the films have meant to so many people.

So I begin with an autograph session with Mister Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), a very nice boy, he asked me if I was okay and my name, besides I beugué on spelling of my name: p It was very casual (dress). Then 18 hours or so, I went to the hotel to change clothes and put on my prom dress (it was more a party dress), the evening started at 9:00 p.m. with the photoshoot of the Orders of Merlin with all guests (I remember I had a pass Sorcerer) and also had a special moment with the guests (Tom Felton, Matthew Lewis, Jessie Cave, Natalia Tena and Alfie Enoch who was also there for the evening, but not during the day because of exams). They could have discussed with them for 8 minutes instead of 15 minutes scheduled and there was no real atmosphere (I’m 2 small dances), There were types of music clubs, and some songs of the fourth movie genre with The Story Continues, Potter Waltz, where some people (mostly girls together) have danced the waltz and went 2 times Do The Hyppogriff where we danced to the beat of the Weird Sisters. The evening ended at midnight, like Cinderella.
