Warner Bros. Studio Tour London: The Making of Harry Potter

Earlier in the week Warner Bros. released a new website which gives fans the preliminary information about the Harry Potter Leavesden tour which has been dubbed Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter. The tour will take fans on a three hour journey through Leavesden and will open in Spring 2012 with tickets going on sale later this year at www.wbstudiotour.co.uk.  Some snippets from the press release may be read below (read the full release here):

This unique walking tour will give visitors the chance to go behind the scenes of the most successful film series of all time and witness the intricate detail that goes into a working set to see first hand what the camera doesn’t show. The announcement was made by Dan Dark, SVP & Managing Director, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.

Featuring the authentic sets, costumes, animatronics, props and effects used in the production of all eight Harry Potter movies, the tour will showcase the British artistry, technology and talent that went into bringing this beloved film series to life.

Among a series of never-before-seen exhibits on the three hour long tour, visitors will be able to walk onto some of the most memorable sets from all of the films in the Harry Potter series including the iconic Great Hall, Dumbledore’s office and many others to be announced at a later date.

Dan Dark, SVP & Managing Director, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden said, “While the Harry Potter film series reaches its highly anticipated conclusion this summer, its incredible filmmaking story and its relationship with Leavesden is set to live on with the launch of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter. The tour promises to be one of the most exciting and memorable visitor attractions anywhere in Europe, delivering an experience never before seen by the general public.”

(Also, I know there was a new photo of Neville in Deathly Hallows online yesterday, but it was leaked so I didn’t post it. WB asked other sites to remove it today, so it’s a good thing I didn’t post it)

Deathly Hallows: Part 2 London Premiere Date Announced!!

The date for the Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows: Part 2 London premiere has been set as July 7th! According to the press release it is set to be the most spectacular premiere yet.

“Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that the world premiere of the final instalment of the Harry Potter film series, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows – Part 2, will take place in London’s Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square on 7th July 2011.

This will be the first red carpet film premiere event in Trafalgar Square, the instantly recognisable landmark providing the iconic backdrop for one of the biggest film premieres to ever take place in the capital.

The cast, filmmakers and guests attending the final Harry Potter premiere will begin the night on the red carpet in Trafalgar Square with the world’s media in attendance. Special areas will be reserved within the square for fans and competition winners from all over the world to see the actors and creators of some of the most beloved characters of all time. Cast and guests will then make their way to Leicester Square’s cinemas to watch the film.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “For the last decade we’ve been gripped by the on-screen battle between Harry Potter and his arch enemy Lord Voldemort and this is one of the most eagerly awaited films in history. As befits a great British triumph, I can think of no better venue than the iconic surroundings of Trafalgar Square in which to stage the most spectacular of send offs for this dramatic finale.”

Josh Berger, President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Pictures UK commented “We are delighted that our plans for the finale of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will take place in such a spectacular venue. We pride ourselves on the creativity of our premieres and the space within Trafalgar Square will lend itself to being a magical experience for both guests and fans.”

Luckily, I will be in London that week, YAY! So if Magical-Menagerie or this site is invited again I will be able to cover the event myself instead of sending someone for me!

SnitchSeeker Interviews Matthew Lewis

SnitchSeeker staffer Emma was lucky enough to be able to attend Matthew’s play ‘Verdict’ and to interview him before the show.  Some snippets may be read below and the full interview can be read at SnitchSeeker or in the Press Archive.

SnitchSeeker: So what scenes are you looking forward to seeing in the second film, both involving Neville and not?
Matthew:
Well, there’s actually a Neville one that I can’t really talk too much about.

SnitchSeeker: That’s not in the book?
Matthew:
I don’t think so. I don’t think it is. I can’t remember. I read the book three times but I can’t remember if it’s in. I’m pretty sure it’s not. It’s a new one they put in. It involves a bridge, that’s all I can say. Involves a bridge and Nick Moran.

SnitchSeeker: He’s one of the snatchers.
Matthew:
Yes. Scabior, is it?
SnitchSeeker: After Verdict, what are you up to?
Matthew:
Well I finish just before Harry Potter press tour kicks off, so I’ll be going around the world with Harry Potter. Glad to. Next year I’ll be looking, after I come back from Harry Potter tour, I’ll go on holiday, which is going to be wicked. Going on holiday with some mates from home. I can’t wait for that. And then as soon as I get back I’m ready to start looking for some more stuff. I mean if something comes up before then, great. But, yeah, that’ll be the time when I come back from holiday. I’ll have all this time. I’ll be looking at auditioning for anything I can read for, really – film, television, plays even maybe. I’m looking forward to taking off late August and really getting out there and almost starting again, if you like. It’s weird.

SnitchSeeker: And about The Sweet Shop, do you know when the release is?
Matthew:
I don’t actually. The producer came to see the play in Windsor about a month ago. I think they’ve got some distribution, they’re hoping. Obviously, Seb Hurtado, the main character committed suicide last year, which … everyone prayed about. So they didn’t really know what to do with it. They didn’t know how to approach it or not. They had to speak to Seb’s family, as well, to see if they wanted it released. But I think they do. They’re going to keep in touch with me over the next few months. But hopefully they’re going to try and get it out at some point this year if they can. At the start of this year, maybe even towards Harry Potter release maybe. I don’t know. We’ll see. But if they let me know I’ll let you know.
