Deathly Hallows Long-listed for 2012 People’s Choice Awards

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II has been long-listed for the 2012 People’s Choice Awards. The top 5 will be up for the award with the ceremony being held on January 11, 2012 in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately Matthew isn’t nominated for anything on his own, BUT if we all write him in as our choice in the following categories he could be nominated. It’s a long shot but we can definitely try!

Thanks SS!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II will be released on DVD and BluRay on November 11th. You can pre-order the movie at the following links.

Matthew Lewis on Harry Potter, Neville, Leeds & More

Today we have a brand new interview Matthew did with Victoria Quarter, a shopping center, the interview may be read at their blog or in the press archive! In the interview he talks about Neville Longbottom and the Harry Potter series as well as his hometown of Leeds, his new “hottie” status (which he finds very awkward) and much more.  Some of  tidbits may be read below but there is much more in the full interview so be sure to read it:

How was it filming such a dramatic confrontational scene with Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort) in the final film? Ralph stared at me really menacingly prior to filming. I still to this day don’t know if he did it on purpose, to build up for the scene or not. It was certainly all very dramatic. Imagine the hair, the nose and him just glaring, as if he was looking into my soul. It was all very unnerving. I smiled at him but he wouldn’t smile back. I was scared. At the end of filming he came over, shook my hand and said ‘that was great’ and immediately all the tension disappeared.

What was it like growing up in Leeds? I went to St Mary’s Catholic School in Menston, Leeds and I’m still really close to my school friends. They’re just normal about the Harry Potter stuff, asking how it went when I got back from filming and then that would be it, we’d just get on with it. They’re really not into the fame thing, they’re just my good mates.

How would you describe your style? Style? (Laughs) I don’t know really. Actually, I do like a suit to be classic, I love that ‘Boardwalk Empire’ style from the 1920s. If you’re wearing a suit I think you have to wear it properly, with the button done up, the trousers high and for it to be sharp and crisp. Then for leisure, I’m the complete opposite in trainers, jeans and a t-shirt, so as normal and relaxed as possible.

Finally……….did you get to keep that very ‘distinct’ cardigan that you wore throughout Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2I did (laughs), but actually I’m not sure if I’m supposed to have it!

New Interview with Matthew Lewis and Evanna Lynch

The Vine has posted a new interview with Matthew Lewis and Evanna Lynch where they discuss the Harry Potter series. You can read the full interview in the press archive or over at The Vine.

Matthew, you had a very intense scene with Ralph Fiennes. How did that go?
I remember reading it in the book and then in the script and it starts to get a bit more real each time. I thought “Wow, I’m actually gonna have to do this at some point.” We did a rehearsal for it and even in rehearsal Ralph was pretty intimidating. I thought ‘I don’t know how I’m going to do this when we get around to it tomorrow.’ He came on to set and he’s got the make-up on and the clothes; he’s just so good at what he does. He gets into Voldemort, he just encompasses everything evil. It’s so amazing to watch his charisma as he moves around the set. He just floats and glides around the set and it helps me as an actor unbelievably. Really got my adrenaline going. It was quite a privilege to work with him. He’s a really nice guy too, when he’s not being Voldemort.

If you could take one prop as a souvenir away from Leavesden what would it be and why?
Definitely without a doubt the sword of Gryffindor. Two reasons, one because I’m a man and just having the sword is really cool, and two I spent a lot of time with it this year. It was quite integral in Neville’s story. It’s the sword that he pulls from the hat. I thought it’d be a very nice memento of the last year at Hogwarts.
