David Yates Talks Neville Longbottom

This past weekend SnitchSeeker had the chance to interview director David Yates, and in that interview he briefly talked about Neville Longbottom, who, as we all know, is played by the wonderful Matthew Lewis.

SnitchSeeker: Neville’s speech – was that in the original script? Because it’s not in the books, so how did it add to that scene against Voldemort in the courtyard?
Yates: It’s Neville’s Henry V moment. Neville’s opportunity to talk about the fact that they had something that they were fighting for other than just … you know, Voldemort is a character who just inspires terror in people. That’s why everyone likes it when they don’t think he can beat Harry. They don’t stay out of loyalty, they stay out of fear. And Neville expresses the fact that they’re all there because they care for each other and they support each other out of love. That’s what his speech is about, basically. And, again, we developed that to express that point. And I like a good speech (laughs).

Videos: Neville’s Stand & Costume Design

yonythemoony has released 2 amazing new videos from the Deathly Hallows: Part II DVD.  The first is a feature on Neville Longbottom and shows a lot of behind the scenes footage as well as interviews about Neville’s speech scene.

The second is all about the costume design done by Jany Temime and includes some information on Neville’s wardrobe. That part starts at 1:26 and runs to the end of the clip.

Thanks Vanessa!

More Maximum Movie Mode Clips

Thanks to Cindy we have a few more Maximum Movie Mode clips from the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II BluRay, if you don’t know what Maximum Movie Mode is make sure to watch the first video first as Matthew explains what it is (I posted this a few days ago but this is an extended version). Even more clips, not including Matthew, may be seen at Magical-Menagerie. There are major spoilers in these videos seeing as they are from the movie, there’s also a huge possibility that WB will remove all of these from YouTube.
