Matthew Lewis will be executive producer of the short film On My Own, which stars his older brother Anthony Lewis and friend Lee Hunter. Matthew’s brother Chris will edit the film. They currently have an Indiegogo for the project to raise £13,000. With 6 days to go they need £7,000 more. According to their Indiegogo, Matthew is “turning his attention to producing films and creating work which has always been a passion.”
We have worked alongside our experienced producers and called in our favours, friends and contacts from years in the production and acting industry. We require £13,000 to make our film the way we would like, and anything more helps us go further on every aspect. This provides us with a crew, post production and a small start for film festival beginnings.
Our perks are for film lovers, supporters of new talent and film supporters. We want you to be part of our production process, as we couldn’t make our film and tell our story without you. From tickets to our London premiere to on set visits, we invite you to become a part of our storytelling process. This story comes from the heart, and means a lot to everyone who wants to tell it in the best way possible.
On My Own was originally a play and this group of talented film makers want to raise awareness and reduce the stigmas surrounding mental illness. A short overview of the film:
Every day Terry works on the same old rooftop… Every day he looks out at St Paul’s Cathedral (survived the war, miraculously) and the serene, surrounding London skyline… And EVERY BLOODY DAY he scrapes up smatterings of relentless London pigeon shit. Today though, somebody is blocking the view (not a pigeon). Can Terry help Colin? Can he help himself? On My Own is a dark, emotional roller coaster of two men found hiding, left facing life quite literally on the edge.
In a series of tweets about the Indiegogo Campaign, Matthew said:
Hey folks, I’m helping produce a film with a stunning script by my old housemate [Lee Hunter]. It’s [On My Own] and it’s a subject hugely important to me. I hope you can spare a few minutes to check it out. It’s also starring my renaissance man brother [Anthony Lewis]. It had a great response when originally performed as a two man play but we’d love to reach an even bigger audience with this powerful and evocative story. Thanks for listening.
On working on this particular project and why it’s important, Anthony says:
“I will never forget the day I read the statistic about suicide being the largest cause of death for men under 40, and it made me question why? What would it take to get to that space where you can see nothing but the end? So when Lee approached me with this very personal piece, we felt it was a perfect opportunity to not only shine light on that, but to explore the parallels in people of different backgrounds and circumstance, and what drives some people to the edge and others to the light. Through research and discussion we came to the conclusion that we really wanted to highlight the importance of communication, and I think the whole piece is about that and how, when it comes to the crunch, we are all just human beings and our bank balances count for nothing.”
