Once again, they have him talking about his new ‘heartthrob’ status: “I was excited I guess to go on the red carpet on the release of the last film and be me, and not to have to have the fat suit under my t-shirt. It was quite an exciting buzz”, Matt says.“I was 21, I was like “yeah, this’ll be cool!” It was never meant to be a “hey everyone, look at me!” but it was nice to be able to go and be myself. And then obviously a lot of attention focused on it, which I didn’t expect at all. I’ve never considered myself to be good-looking at all.

The issue will be out in shops next Wednesday (May 27) and you can also have it delivered directly to your door at newsstand.co.uk. You can also order through PocketMags.

Matt and Anthony Lewis Host Acting Class at Leeds Grammar School

This past Friday, Matt and Anthony Lewis hosted an acting class at The Grammar School in Leeds.  As we’ve mentioned a few times in the past, Anthony runs two acting schools, Totally Lit and Totally Lit North, and Matthew is a patron of the schools.  Their purpose is to teach aspiring actors about the business of real world acting.  View some photos of Matthew and Anthony in our gallery.

Of their day at the school, which involved judging a drama competition the night before, Matt said:

It has been really nice to get back up to Leeds. We were both really impressed with the standard of work and creativity. TV and film is such a different discipline and it was nice to try and break that down and see how the students handled it and they all did really well.

Anthony also discussed Totally Lit and their process:

“We are looking at auditioning new students after Easter, and I think we spotted some fantastic potential film and TV actors! The purpose of the workshops was to look at a different style of acting to the theatrical work that the students were familiar with. Using mine and Matthew’s experiences working over the years, we explained the main differences between working to a large audience and then playing to a camera, which is a far more intimate experience. We also discussed the practical side of working as an actor.”

New Interview with Matthew Lewis on Bluestone 42 + New Photos

In a new interview with Radio Times, Matt Lewis and co-star Laura Aikman discuss the new series of Bluestone 42 which premieres on BBC Three this evening (10pm for those that forgot!) We also have a few new photos from the show, which can be found in the gallery!

“There’s a big explosion in episode 1 – and it’s not even the biggest that we’ve done this series,” affirms Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis, who stars as Corporal Gordon ‘Tower Block’ House in the comedy.

“We have another explosion later on in the series which is the biggest we’ve EVER done. And it is Un-believable. We weren’t even allowed anywhere near it when it went off, we had to watch it from about a mile away. And even then, it vibrated everything around you. We’ve really tried to up the stakes in terms of the action and explosions this series. “

And then the series has to deal with the spectre of current events – namely, that we don’t actually have troops in Afghanistan any more… “Obviously, the withdrawal from Afghanistan has happened and that’s something that we touch on in this series,” says Lewis. “The operations are coming to an end, they’re winding down – so in this series it’s a lot to do with looking to the future and how they’ll leave the country.”

Presumably this begins to put the kibosh on any future series of the comedy – but according to the cast, there could be hope. “There’s so much scope, and the writers have so many ideas for other things the team could do,” says Aikman. “I think technically they wouldn’t be the same team if they went somewhere else, but they might be able to…fudge that.” In other words, the series could do a Twenty Twelve and spin itself off into another series, with some of the cast moving to a new location as Hugh Bonneville’s Ian Fletcher did to appear in W1A.

Additionally, the writers of the show did an interview with Radio Times to share how they go about creating the show. That interview may be read here.
