The Yorkshire Evening Post has a new interview with Matthew Lewis where he discusses The Syndicate, which airs one week from today at 9pm on BBC One. The full interview may be read in the press archive.
And today Matthew revealed how his involvement with the five-part series represented something of a trip down memory lane. He said: “I’ve worked with Kay before but I was very young – she cast me in the first thing I ever did back when I was five so I don’t remember it a lot. It was a real pleasure to work on this with her because she writes so effortlessly and she has such a vivid image in her head of what she wants and she knows exactly how to convey that to the actor.”
We also have EIGHT new high resolution promotional photos from the show that you can see in the gallery!

The Bradford Telegraph and Argus have posted a new interview and brand new promotional shot of Matthew Lewis in The Syndicate. Read the full interview at the previous link or in the press archive and see the photo in the gallery.
“Jamie is a drug-taking, mouthy scallywag and Neville is a shy boy wizard who’s afraid of his own shadow. On the surface they’re worlds apart. However, when you scratch below that surface they have similarities,” said Matthew. “I wanted to play Jamie from the moment I read the script. The fact that he was a ‘bad lad’ didn’t really factor in my decision. I just knew I wanted to tell Jamie’s story. A lot of people will dislike him and will find him on the surface to be a pretty disagreeable bloke. He’s been through a lot but I’m not asking people to justify his behaviour, I just hope they understand it on a human level. That for me is the challenge.”
The movie franchise [Harry Potter] came to an end last year with the release of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2. Matthew, who went to St Mary’s School in Menston and Scala Performing Arts School in Horsforth, told the T&A: “Those films are classics, I’m proud to be part of that. I’m a huge Star Wars fan and to think our films will be ranked alongside those in years to come is incredible.”
There is also a new behind the scenes shot from The Grocer as well as another new promotional photo featuring the cast.

Matthew Lewis’ brother, Anthony (also an actor), has revealed via his Twitter that The Syndicate will be premiering on March 27th.
I have just been told by Kay Mellor that The Syndicate will be starting on 27th March at 9pm on BBC1. Be there!
BBC have posted the synopsis for the first episode and it is as follows:
In a new five-part drama for BBC One, written by Kay Mellor, The Syndicate tells the story of five workers at a cut-price supermarket in Leeds whose lives are turned upside down after they jointly win the lottery.
In episode one, local Right Buy U supermarket in Leeds is threatened with closure, spiralling its five staff, Bob, Stuart, Denise, Leanne and Jamie into an uncertain future.
Faced with the prospect of losing his young family if he doesn’t get hold of some cash quickly, assistant manager Stuart Bradley and his younger brother Jamie are forced to take matters into their own hands, with dramatic consequences for store manager Bob.
Just when it seems things can’t get any worse the unthinkable happens: 18 million pounds falls into their laps. Is the money going to be the answer to all their problems, or is life about to get a whole lot more complicated?
