Matthew Supports Red Nose Day In Leeds

This past weekend Matthew Lewis visited the Burley Lodge Youth Centre to be quizzed as part of his support for Comic Relief and is the “Community Cash Champion,” backing the Yorkshire Evening Post’s giveaway of £100,000 Red Nose Day Community Cash.  There is an accompanying photo, which you can view in the gallery.

Of his involvement he said, “I’ve been watching Red Nose Day since I was a boy growing up. I was more than happy to be a part of it when the opportunity came up.”  And of the particular day’s events he noted that “all of the kids have been so engaging. You always hope you can in some kind of way be a bit of an inspiration. You want to come and help out, and all the kids have been so brilliant. It’s a real pleasure for me to come down here.”

Red Nose Day Community Cash grants of £500-£1,000 are available to small, locally-run organisations doing great work to help local people living tough lives in disadvantaged or deprived areas of Leeds.

To apply for a Red Nose Day Community Cash grant, visit: www.leedscf.org.uk/apply-for-grant/open-grants-programme/ before Friday, March 8.

Mathew Lewis Supports Bethany’s Smile

As we have posted multiple times in the past, Matthew Lewis is a patron for the charity Bethany’s Smile and has participated in numerous “Walk of Smile” events to raise money for that charity. On September 8th there will be another walk in Horsforth, Leeds.  An article on Bethany and her wonderful cause, which includes a snippet on Matthew, may be read by downloading this PDF.  If you cannot make it to the event but would still like to donate you may visit Bethany’s Smile’s website.

Registration for the event, on September 8, will be on the day, but sponsorship forms are now available from the Old Ball Pub in Horsforth or from Bethany’s Smile.

The event will include entertainment and a post-walk party back in Horsforth. Everyone taking part will receive a certificate signed by Matthew Lewis.

Eighty per cent of the net profit will be donated to Martin House and 20 per cent will go to Bethany’s Smile.

Anyone wanting to volun-teer or entertain on the day, or who wants information about the charity, should contact bethanyssmile@virginmedia. com or call 07906 699942.

We will, of course, post any new information, photos or videos from this upcoming event and past events as they appear online.

Videos & More Photos: Matthew Lewis Receiving Honorary Degree From Leeds-Met

Leeds Metropolitan University has released some more photos of Matthew Lewis receiving his honorary degree, those photos may be seen in the gallery. They have also posted a video of Matthew from the day where he talks about the honor, his girlfriend also graduating, Harry Potter, living in Leeds and more.

Additionally, the Yorkshire Evening Post has released another video of Matthew at the ceremony. In this video he talks about many of the same topics as well as his schooling and his life after Potter. You also get to see him preparing for the ceremony and getting his photo taken after and there is a particularly amusing shot of Matt running.

Hopefully a video of his speech will be released and, if so, it will be posted here!
