London IFF Schedule Released; The Sweet Shop Showing

As we posted a couple weeks ago, The Sweet Shop is showing at the London International Film Festival and is up for numerous awards. The schedule has been released and the movie will be shown on October 17th at 6pm. You can purchase tickets to the festival via the London IFF website. A daily pass for October 17th will cost £10 and you can attend any of the screenings on that date.

The Sweet Shop

Rockstar Jarvis Marshall returns to his empty family home after the death of his estranged mother, ten years after he left to avoid his violent father. Jarvis is alone, despite the presence of Simone, his beautiful German supermodel girlfriend, despite his money and his fame. And he has a musical to score! Facing his fears and his guilt, he relies on his re-born friendship with Katie, a childhood friend who runs her grandfather’s sweet shop. Although a village fixture, Katie is every bit as alone as Jarvis. Her best friend Mikey lives in hope of her reciprocating his feelings for her, and feels threatened by Jarvis. The Sweet Shop is a simple story of human frailty and love, with some great songs.

Matt Lewis Visits Thackray Museum & Attends Totally Lit Launch

Back in July Matthew visited the Magic of Medicine exhibition at the Thackray Medical Museum and some photos were taken of Matt and a few children.  View the adorable pictures in the gallery!  At the museum Matt said “It’s one of my favourite museums”, said Matthew. “I was amazed at how fascinated the children were by the element of magic in medicine and healthcare.” The exhibition runs through the end of the year and ticketing information as well as details on daily activities may be found on their website. Information about the exhibition is as follows:

The Museum’s year-long magic project explores the timeless association between bedpans and broomsticks, helping to dispel fears that the story of medicine is just gory or scary. In addition to the Magic and Medicine exhibition, the museum is hosting Harry Potter’s World, a travelling display from the National Library of Medicine in the USA. Visitors will learn how historic medical resources from the history of medicine have been woven into the magic of J.K Rowling’s much loved Harry Potter series.

Also, thanks to Danaholics Anonymous we have some news about a new program Matt is involved with called Totally Lit.  It is run by his older brother Anthony and serves as a “a new kind of workshop training in Film, TV and Theatre, opening in September 2013, in Central London,  for young people aged 11-18 years.”  Every week there are 3-hour workshop’s and Masterclasses with top casting directors, actors and agents.  DA has done some digging and found that Matt will be hosting one of these Masterclasses. A statement from an artistic director of the programme may be read below:

Matthew is the one of the first actors to sign up to our masterclass programme. Just so you are clear, as I don’t wish to mislead people, the masterclass is only for students at Totally-lit. We are recruiting in the first two weeks of September (7th and 14th). People wishing to audition will need to book in, in advance, but they can do this via the website. Anyone under 16 needs an adult (parent/carer) to book on their behalf.

To sign up and for more information about the cost of the programme, visit this page and be sure to read the FAQs!  A few photos from the launch may be viewed in the gallery.

Support Matthew In the Leeds Rugby’s BUPA Great North Run

Last week Matthew Lewis let everyone know that he would be participating in Leeds Rugby’s BUPA Great North Run and today he’s tweeted the link to donate on his behalf.  You can either visit this link, or if you are in the UK (not sure if this works internationally) you can text  MATT24 plus £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 to 70070.  Matt has this to say to everyone who donates:

“I really appreciate everyone who is supporting us whilst we take on this challenge.  I have been training hard as I know what fantastic work Leeds Rugby Foundation does in the community and am keen to raise as much money as possible to help them continue their great projects.  Any support that you can give will help us to reach our fundraising target and keep us motivated for every step of the 13 miles so a huge thank you!!”

And, he shared this lovely photo from after a training session.
