Matthew Talks The Syndicate with Digital Spy

Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis has said that appearing in BBC drama The Syndicate is helping him move on from the film franchise.

The actor, who played Neville Longbottom in all eight Potter movies, revealed that he is starting to be recognized for his role in the TV series.

“I had a couple of people stop me last week and ask ‘Are you in The Syndicate?’ rather than Harry Potter,” he told Digital Spy.

“It’s been the first time I’ve ever been stopped and the person hasn’t asked about Potter. That’s a new experience and I didn’t think that would happen so quickly.

“I don’t want to act as if Harry Potter wasn’t the most amazing thing because it truly was, but it’s also great personally that I’m starting to see signs that I can move on from it and do other stuff that hopefully people enjoy.”

However, Lewis commented that fans of The Syndicate have not always taken to troubled character Jamie Bradley.

“People seem to have really taken to the program, which is fantastic,” he said.

“Most people aren’t too fond of my character Jamie, though, and they¹ve let me know… If I’m honest, Neville is clearly the better person but Jamie is a lot more fun to play.”

The Syndicate concludes tomorrow (April 24) at 9pm on BBC One.
