Matt Lewis Joining Scott Mills & Chris Stark for BBC at the Edinburgh Festivals

Matthew Lewis will be joining Chris Stark and Scott Mills for BBC at the Edinburgh Festival on Monday August 11th for some late night hijinkery. Both Chris and BBC Radio Leeds have posted about the appearance. We will of course share with you the full nature of the event as we know more. Watch his Innuendo Bingo video, and view the tweets below:

Happy Birthday, Neville Longbottom!

Today is July 30th, and we all know what that means! Happy Birthday, Neville Longbottom!! Everyone’s favorite herbology professor turns 34 today. Without Neville, many of us would not be fans of Matt Lewis, and what a shame that would be!

If Rita Skeeter is to be believed (via new Pottermore content) Neville is apparently an alcoholic and still teaching at the school. But when does Rita ever report the truth? So we say Neville is find and happy!

J.K. Rowling speaks very kindly of the lovely Neville:

I love Neville. I love Neville so much. Always loved Neville. And I always had big plans for Neville, you know? And he really was The Boy It Could’ve Been, because as you know, as I made clear, he was born hours before Harry, he was born on the 30th of July, Voldemort singled him out as the other possibility. But the great thing about Neville’s story for me, the over-arching story about Neville, is that he proves himself to be a boy who could’ve done it too. Yeah, Harry had the scar and arguably, Harry had an edge more talent because Harry– he has an extraordinary instinct for the right thing to do. He’s just got the right instinct, and that’s what would make him, in due course, a phenomenal Auror. But Neville was, I think, amazing in the final battle, and proved himself a hundred times over worthy of being a Gryffindor, his parents’ son, despite the very difficult childhood he had in the hands of his very pushy grandmother, and I know, she loves him and he loves her, but she’s not an easy person to be raised by. So yeah, so that for me, was the big thing about Neville. x

Video: Matt Lewis Accepting Best Fandom Forever Award

Earlier today we reported that Matt Lewis was going to accept the Best Fandom Forever award for Harry Potter at the MTVu Fandom Awards. Now we have the video of his appearance. Matthew sent in a video clip, just as we predicted, which may be watched below. We will update with an official video, if one becomes available, since this was just recorded off the TV and isn’t perfect.

UPDATE: Here is the official video:

New ‘Night of the Loving Dead’ Stills; Wins Award

We posted a couple years ago that Matt lent his voice to the character of Nigel in a short animated film, Night of the Loving Dead. While the full feature still isn’t available for viewing online, we have some new promotional photos from the short via creator Anna Humphries and visual consultant Robin Whenary.  The film also recently won an award for Best Short Film (in the Over 18’s category) in the St Albans International Film Festival.

Matthew Lewis Accepts ‘Best Fandom Forever’ at MTVu Awards

MTVu held the first ever Fandom Awards at this year’s San Diego Comic Con and Harry Potter won Best Fandom Forever. According to Entertainment Weekly, Matthew accepted the award on behalf of the films.  We assume he was not there in person and it was a video acceptance, but check out the show tonight to see for sure! MTV and mtvU will premiere the 60-minute “mtvU Fandom Awards Special” on Sunday, July 27, at 8 p.m. ET.

“Congratulations to all the fans,” said Lewis. “I’m sure we’ll all agree that the greatest stories are the ones that stay with us forever, so thank you very much for believing in us. We wouldn’t still be here without you.”

We will post video from the show as soon as it is available!
