UPDATE: The project is still in the development stage so no official casting has been done. Matthew was just involved in for the development process, but the creators of the show would love to have him voice the final show if it is commissioned. Meaning: if the show actually goes into production they would like Matt to officially voice Captain Extraordinary, but as of right now it is up in the air and nothing has been confirmed.

It’s been revealed that Matt Lewis has been cast in a new animated television series, Captain Extraordinary, which is being put together by Rushfirth Creative. A script for the pilot episode has been created and they are also working on a teaser trailer for the show. The teaser will be produced over the coming weeks and will be ready in the early summer, and we will share it as soon as it’s available.

A little information on the show is as follows:

EXTRAORDINARY . WHY BE ANYTHING ELSE? Here we have Captain Extraordinary, an animated fast-paced action-adventure show with a HUGE emphasis on quirky off-beat humour. Primarily aimed at an audience aged 7 – 11 years, the 26 episodes each bring 22 minutes of wacky fantasy storytelling that constantly delivers on laughs.

Matthew voiced the title character, Captain Extraordinary, for development of the series. You can view some photos of his character in the gallery!

“Matthew’s delivery of Neville’s stumbling, defiant monologue before Voldemort at the climax of Deathly Hallows was my absolute favourite scene in the entire Harry Potter series,” says Howard, “and possibly one of my favourite movie moments of all time – and I ‘like my movies’ to put it mildly, so that’s a big deal.”

The much sought-after actor took time out of his busy schedule to give the Captain his distinctive voice. “Matthew’s contribution to our work is amazing- and he’s just captured everything we wanted for the Captain, we’re feeling very privileged. A big thanks also goes to Steph, Matthew’s representation at London Voice Boutique, who has been a real joy to work with.”

Matt and Anthony Lewis Host Acting Class at Leeds Grammar School

This past Friday, Matt and Anthony Lewis hosted an acting class at The Grammar School in Leeds.  As we’ve mentioned a few times in the past, Anthony runs two acting schools, Totally Lit and Totally Lit North, and Matthew is a patron of the schools.  Their purpose is to teach aspiring actors about the business of real world acting.  View some photos of Matthew and Anthony in our gallery.

Of their day at the school, which involved judging a drama competition the night before, Matt said:

It has been really nice to get back up to Leeds. We were both really impressed with the standard of work and creativity. TV and film is such a different discipline and it was nice to try and break that down and see how the students handled it and they all did really well.

Anthony also discussed Totally Lit and their process:

“We are looking at auditioning new students after Easter, and I think we spotted some fantastic potential film and TV actors! The purpose of the workshops was to look at a different style of acting to the theatrical work that the students were familiar with. Using mine and Matthew’s experiences working over the years, we explained the main differences between working to a large audience and then playing to a camera, which is a far more intimate experience. We also discussed the practical side of working as an actor.”
