Happy 30th Birthday, Matt!

Happy 30th Birthday Matt Lewis

Wishing a very Happy 30th Birthday to our favorite guy, Matthew Lewis! Matt started acting at 5 years old and came into our lives as Neville Longbottom in 2001. We’ve watched him grow into a talented actor on the stage, television and silver screen and can’t wait for what’s next.

Whether you’ve been a fan since his early Harry Potter days or discovered him later in his career, one thing is certain: you will be a Matt fan or life. Let’s hope we get to watch him charm our screens for decades to come! We can’t believe this site has been around for almost 12 years already. Time sure flies.

We’ve been a little quiet on the news front lately, but hopefully we’ll have exciting news to share about Matt’s career in the coming months! We know he has one film that has yet to be released – Baby, Done. It will be released in 2020 in Australia and New Zealand. Hopefully the US and UK will shortly follow.

Matthew Lewis Starring in Taika Waititi’s ‘Baby, Done;’ Filming Underway in New Zealand

Deadline is reporting today that Matthew Lewis is starring in Baby, Done, a Piki Films production by New Zealander Taika Waititi. Fans will recall that last week Matthew tweeted that he would be in New Zealand for the next 8 weeks. Now we know why!

Rose Matafeo stars as Zoe “a tree surgeon who becomes pregnant by her longterm boyfriend Tim and subsequently freaks out as she tries to rush through her dreams before she turns into a mother.” Matthew will be playing Zoe’s boyfriend Tim.

Of his role in the film, Matthew says: “I fell in love with the script immediately and the team of creatives behind it. I’m also a big fan of Rose and her work and so to be opposite her shooting in beautiful New Zealand is a privilege and I’m looking forward to bringing this story to life.”

The New Zealand Harold released this photo of the pair.

Curtis Vowell will be directing the film written by actress Sophie Henderson. It is a semi-autobiographical story inspired by her and Vowell’s own reaction to starting a family. Curtis revealed, “Sophie and I are over the moon to be working with Rose and Matthew — they’re hilarious together and their chemistry is electric. We’re already having a lot of fun making it and can’t wait to deliver it to the world.”

According to Deadline, the film will be released in New Zealand and Australia in 2020. It is unknown when it will be released in other countries but we would assume a similar timeline.

Videos: Watch Matthew Lewis as “Himself” in Nutritiously Nicola Web Series

As we posted wayyyy back in August 2017, Matthew was part of a Kickstarter for a web series called Nutritiously Nicola! The seven episode series was released on YouTube earlier this month.

Nicola has multiple mental health issues. She’s pushing thirty. And is being inconveniently haunted by the ghost of her anorexic friend, as she tries to make a life from herself in East London. After being released from the eating disorder clinic, again, Nicola restarts her recovery journey. She soon realises that trying to ‘live her best life’ on Instagram and ED recovery may not be entirely compatible…

Watch the trailer below:

Matthew Lewis and his brother Anthony guest starred in a couple episodes (Anthony is briefly in the final episode.)  Matt plays a version of himself that wants to be the buffest person there is, even buffer than….we’ll let you find out!

Those episodes can be watched below, or watch the full series on YouTube. Please be aware that this contains content not suitable for certain ages.

Matthew Lewis Executive Producing ‘On My Own’ Starring Lee Hunter and Anthony Lewis

Matthew Lewis will be executive producer of the short film On My Own, which stars his older brother Anthony Lewis and friend Lee Hunter. Matthew’s brother Chris will edit the film. They currently have an Indiegogo for the project to raise £13,000. With 6 days to go they need £7,000 more. According to their Indiegogo, Matthew is “turning his attention to producing films and creating work which has always been a passion.”

We have worked alongside our experienced producers and called in our favours, friends and contacts from years in the production and acting industry. We require £13,000 to make our film the way we would like, and anything more helps us go further on every aspect. This provides us with a crew, post production and a small start for film festival beginnings.

Our perks are for film lovers, supporters of new talent and film supporters. We want you to be part of our production process, as we  couldn’t make our film and tell our story without you. From tickets to our London premiere to on set visits, we invite you to become a part of our storytelling process. This story comes from the heart, and means a lot to everyone who wants to tell it in the best way possible.

On My Own was originally a play and this group of talented film makers want to raise awareness and reduce the stigmas surrounding mental illness. A short overview of the film:

Every day Terry works on the same old rooftop… Every day he looks out at St Paul’s Cathedral (survived the war, miraculously) and the serene, surrounding London skyline… And EVERY BLOODY DAY he scrapes up smatterings of relentless London pigeon shit. Today though, somebody is blocking the view (not a pigeon). Can Terry help Colin? Can he help himself? On My Own is a dark, emotional roller coaster of two men found hiding, left facing life quite literally on the edge.

In a series of tweets about the Indiegogo Campaign, Matthew said:

Hey folks, I’m helping produce a film with a stunning script by my old housemate [Lee Hunter]. It’s [On My Own] and it’s a subject hugely important to me. I hope you can spare a few minutes to check it out. It’s also starring my renaissance man brother [Anthony Lewis]. It had a great response when originally performed as a two man play but we’d love to reach an even bigger audience with this powerful and evocative story. Thanks for listening.

On working on this particular project and why it’s important, Anthony says:

“I will never forget the day I read the statistic about suicide being the largest cause of death for men under 40, and it made me question why? What would it take to get to that space where you can see nothing but the end? So when Lee approached me with this very personal piece, we felt it was a perfect opportunity to not only shine light on that, but to explore the parallels in people of different backgrounds and circumstance, and what drives some people to the edge and others to the light. Through research and discussion we came to the conclusion that we really wanted to highlight the importance of communication, and I think the whole piece is about that and how, when it comes to the crunch, we are all just human beings and our bank balances count for nothing.”
