Thanks to LadyLongbottom we have a new photo and article on Matt attending the Royal International Air Tattoo yesterday!
Besides grabbing a sneak preview of some of this year’s star attractions, including the French Air Force Rafale, a state-of-the-art jet fighter, and the Vulcan, the iconic warbird of the Cold War era, Matthew took the chance to meet members of the Air Cadet Organisation who play a vital role in helping at the event.
The actor was himself a keen Air Cadet with Yeadon Sqn in Leeds until filming commitments took priority. He said: “I really enjoyed my two years as an Air Cadet, and learning to work with adults was one of the things that helped in my acting career.” This is the third time Matthew’s visited the Air Tattoo, and he’s still impressed by the event. “I love the sheer size of the airshow, and the aircraft on display – the Vulcan touched down in front of us, and that was just superb to watch,” he enthuses. And if Matthew has ever decides to turn his back on the movies, he may be able to step into his other choice of career. “I joined the Air Cadets because I love aircraft and the RAF,” he says, “and, who knows, I’m still young enough to join up!”
