Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis has revealed a career in the RAF was on the cards for him had acting not worked out.

The Leeds-born actor, who plays Neville Longbottom in JK Rowling’s fantasy series, attended the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire as a guest after he told the Force he was “a big fan of the RAF”.

The 20-year-old star said: “(The) RAF was if acting didn’t work out, was definitely a course I was looking at in life.”

He added: “They (the RAF) invited me to come along as a guest one year to the Air Tattoo and they have invited me every year since.”

Matthew said he was “looking forward” to filming the seventh and final book in the series, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, which is being split into two parts for the big screen.

“I’ve just gone back to read Deathly Hallows again, I mean I read it last year, but I have just read it again and I forgot the stuff that Neville really has to do. It’s really bizarre reading it and having your future mapped out in these stories ahead of time,” he said.
