In another interview posted by Radio Times, Matthew talks about the Harry Potter films and whether or not he would reprise his role as Neville if the opportunity came. He also reveals he was discussing the Fantastic Beasts films with J.K. Rowling and David Yates (he is NOT going to be in the film, they were just chatting.)
On playing Neville again: “If it came to it that I was offered that sort of deal – I want to say I’d consider it – but I’d probably jump at the chance, absolutely! I’m not itching, just yet, but I’d absolutely, definitely consider it, and love to be considered for it.”
He also talks about filming Harry Potter and Bluestone 42: “I saw Emma Watson the other day and we were chatting about Potter,” Lewis said, “and I realised as much as I miss certain aspects of it, since I finished it I’ve just had such an amazing time. Potter was an amazing and a unique experience that I was privileged to have been a part of, but I’ve never been as involved with or as proud of a project as I have with Bluestone 42 – I’ve had so much fun being a part of it, so much more than I’ve ever had before as an actor, definitely.”
Finally, he briefly discusses the Fantastic Beasts films and how he will actually be able to enjoy watching them since he won’t be in them:
“One of the things that ruined all the [Harry Potter] films for me was that I had to watch myself in them – it was a nightmare,” Lewis said. “But I can go to watch the new films without any kind of fear of my own performance.”
“I was up in Edinburgh chatting about it with [Harry Potter creator] Jo Rowling, and [director] David Yates was there too. Just knowing that those two are back together again, Jo and David Yates, with [producer] David Heyman – that magical team are together, making these films – it cannot fail to be a success. I can’t wait to see it – and not be a part of it!”
