Happy Birthday Neville!

Last month we celebrated Matthew’s 22nd birthday, and today (July 30th) we get to celebrate Neville Longbottom’s birthday! Neville is turning 31 years old today!

As we all know Neville was very important in the defeat of the Dark Lord Voldemort in 1998.  Neville was a true Gryffindor and we all love him to pieces! He is currently the Herbology professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and is married to Hannah Abbot.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NEVILLE!

Neville Longbottom One of TotalFilm’s 50 Greatest Harry POtter Characters

Neville Longbottom has made TotalFilm’s list of the 50 Greatest Harry Potter Characters. Neville comes in at lucky number 13 with the following information:

As Played By: Matthew Lewis

The Character: Having spent most of the early stories as the bumbling butt of everybody’s jokes, Neville really comes into his own as times grow darker, first as a willing and able member of Dumbledore’s Army, and finally as a key player in the Battle of Hogwarts. Wielding the sword of Gryffindor like a champ, it is he who takes out the serpent Nagini, destroying a fragment of Voldemort’s soul in the process.

Key Quote: (To Voldemort) “I’ll join you when hell freezes over.”

Matthew Talks Filming and Cutting of Scenes

Matthew recently spoke to The West Australia about filming the Harry Potter series and how he feels when his scenes in the films are cut. Read the full interview at the previous link or in the press archive.

“You sit there and read the book you go ‘That’s great’, you read the script you go ‘Wow it’s still in there’, and then you think ‘Will we shoot it’ and then you shoot it and you think well ‘That’s three out of four’ and it could end up on the cutting-room floor. But it is all in there. Even if it doesn’t make it into the film, I just like being on a film set and working, I like being busy. Half-Blood Prince was a hard shoot because I was in a lot of it but I was in the background and I only had four lines and only two made the film and that’s tough for any actor. You just have to take a step back and appreciate it and then when you get a film like this one, you just make sure you bloody enjoy it. I got to do everything this year, the action the drama, the humour again. It was great.”
